AGS - Service Notes

To: Techware PAL-68000 controller users
Re: Power line protection

Due to the age of these controllers there is a growing problem of supportability for some of the CPU components (particularly the obsolete motherboard and disk drives). One of the most frequent causes of fauilure is a power glitche hitting the CPU/HD. To reduce the risk of this, we recommend installing a power conditioner or small UPS at the PAL's power source to smooth out disturbances before it can get to the MB. Ultimately, a controller upgrade should be planned as the obsolete parts are becoming more difficult to locate on the refurb market.
